Here we have a lovely oversized armchair from Pieff. The Alpha model, this chair was designed by Tim Bates in the 1970s and features a chromed tubular metal frame and real black leather seat and back cushions and armrests.

This chair is in good, clean vintage condition, but there has been a leather patch repair to the front of the seat cushion at some point. There is also evidence of some cat scratching on the arms and the pirelli base is no longer in place. Whilst this is a shame, ultimately it means the chair can’t fail in the future, as I gather these rubber bases are impossible to find now. Instead of the perishable rubber, the previous owner installed a made to measure base board that slots neatly into place in the chrome frame. This means the seat is a little firmer than it would originally have been, but it’s still really comfy and I love the generosity of size to it 🙂 A quality, well made piece perfect for lounging in and adding a high end 70s vibe to any retro loving home 🙂

Mad and Bad Vintage

We primarily sell sympathetically restored and occasionally eccentrically reupholstered pieces of quality vintage, retro and Mid Century furniture. Throw in a bit of kitsch, some funky homeware and our frenchie Nibbler and that’s pretty much Mad & Bad Vintage on a plate 🙂
