Large Tremaen Lamp Base 1970’s
1970’s Large Sculptural Lamp Base, by Tremaen Pottery, Newlyn Cornwall, under the guidance of Peter Ellery.
Peter Ellery trained in fine art and ceramics at Bath College. He set up the Tremaen pottery in Marazion in 1965, later moving to Newlyn a couple of years later. They later retailed their pottery from a shop in the high street in Penzance and also from the Sloop Craft Market in 1969 based in St. Ives.
The recession of the early 1980’s created increasing economic difficulties for the pottery and in 1988 Peter Ellery decided that he had had enough and the pottery closed.
The condition of the lamp is good with no visible damage or marks and has recently been rewired and is PAT tested.
Size is 48 cm (18.5 ins ) tall, by 20cm wide (8ins).
The shade is finished in hessian as per the period.
