Arts and Crafts faux Turquoise Silver Brooch
Antique brooch with enamel painted centre, in the style of Bernard Instone.
A striking antique Arts and Crafts era broochwith a central cabuchon which has been cleverly painted to resemble a polished piece of Turquoise, with flashes of copper showing. It is surrounded by a hammered silver flower head setting. A highly wearable antique jewellery piece from the early 1900s.
Measures 35 mm (1 3/8″) diameter. The brooch is marked ‘STERLING SILVER’ to the reverse and fastens with a secure ‘c’ style clasp.
There is no maker’s mark but this resembles the early work of the influential Arts and Crafts designer Bernard Instone.
It is in excellent vintage condition; I have given it a light clean to preserve the patina of the silver. There are tiny chips to a small area of the enamel which are only visible close-up.
