1970’s/80’s Boho Maxi Dress Chiffon & Brocade Handmade
1970’s/80’s handmade boho maxi dress, brocade bodice, full chiffon skirt , small size with room to let out.
An absolutely stunning boho maxi dress c.1970’s/80’s, beautifully handmade. Approx size 8 but please read carefully and measure against your own clothes as there is room to let it out.
The bodice is a lovely embroidered brocade with a leaf pattern in bronze, gold and green on a black ground. Button front fastening, padded cups, scooped back with two sets of long ties which finish in pretty clusters of crystal beads.
The huge black chiffon skirt is made up of 32 separate panels; the hemline edged with a 6” deep ornate gold border. Beneath is a plain black underskirt.
At present the dress is small, it doesn’t even fit my mannequin so the pictures don’t do it justice but it has been taken in, the excess fabric left in situ so it can be let out again.
No zip, goes over the head but one could probably be put in.
Measurements pit to pit 15” laid flat plus extra 4” each side approx to let out. Empire line (bottom of bodice) 14.5” laid flat plus extra 3” each side approx to let out.
Total Length 51”, length of bodice 14”, pit to empire line 6.5”.
Excellent condition, appears little worn – just a bit of wear to the back ties.

Adorn Vintage celebrates all aspects of the vintage lifestyle from fashion to home and garden. I love pattern, colour and texture with an emphasis on the decorative and unusual.
A lifetime of collecting led me to doing my first vintage fair in 2007 then in 2009 I joined the newly opened Space Vintage store in Harrogate where I sell an eclectic mix of clothing, accessories, textiles and homewares.
If you like to seek out something a little bit different for your home or wardrobe, I hope you’ll find it among my wonderful collection of vintage and antique finds.
I aim to post within 2 working days though with the current COVID-19 situation this may be longer as I’m trying to limit trips out, your patience is appreciated in this matter. In order to minimise waste I recycle packaging where possible. Please be assured that your items will still be packaged with the utmost care even if they’re in a cereal box!
I try to describe my items as accurately as possible; noting any wear or damage. Please study the photos carefully as these form part of the description.I consider myself an enthusiast rather than an expert and am bound to get things wrong occasionally eg the date of an item. There is never any intention to mislead. As a lover of vintage I find it easy to overlook minor flaws; often considering them part and parcel of an item which has had a previous life and been used and loved. Indeed, in some cases these flaws make an item more desirable. If you are not sure about anything, please get in touch, I’d rather you were sure than have a disappointed customer! Refunds will be issued on receipt of returned goods. Goods must be returned well packaged and in their original state.
